Acupuncture

Derek Williams, M.Ac.,Licensed Acupuncturist

Derek Williams found acupuncture as a way to get well after becoming extremely ill in 2001.  Derek started out life as an underweight and sickly child.  He started weight training at age 12 and at the same time, started on a good nutrition plan.  This helped him gain muscle mass and become healthier, and improved his self esteem.  He later competed in bodybuilding, powerlifting, karate, and wrestling.

After a series of stressful events, Derek became very ill in late 2001 with Environmental Illness.  He suffered from fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple chemical sensitivity, multiple food allergies, and severe endocrine disruptions including Addison's Disease.

After receiving disappointing results from western medicine, Derek turned to alternative medicine, including chiropractic, acupuncture, homeopathy, applied kinesiology, herbs, and western dietary supplements.

After a short period of time, he began to see dramatic improvements in his health.  Derek was working as an accountant when he became ill, but he began researching alternative and conventional medicine when he developed Environmental Illness in 2001.  Shortly afterwards, after experiencing dramatic improvements in his health, it was suggested to him by his health care provider that he should look into becoming involved in alternative medicine as a career.

After some thought, research, and prayer, Derek decided to become an acupuncturist

In addition to training extensively in Applied Kinesiology, Derek attended Caldwell Community College in Hudson, NC, Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ, and graduated from Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in August of 2008 with a Master's Degree in Acupuncture

Dr. Michelle Asks some important questions of interest to Tucson residents - Chiropractor Tucson Dr. Michelle Asks...

What happens if you stop chiropractic care when you feel better?
Many Tucson folks recognize that this predisposes you to a relapse. Chiropractors know that muscles and ligaments supporting the spine don't fully heal until after symptoms subside.
How does headache medication find the headache?
It can't! Chiropractors know that when you ingest a drug and it enters your bloodstream it numbs or deadens your entire body. Chiropractic adjustments, on the other hand, are specific, targeted and delivered with precision.
