Who Benefits from Chiropractic Care

Everyone benefits from Chiropractic Care.  Here are some examples of types of people who seek the vast benefits from Chiropractic and Massage Therapy.

Pregnancy and Chiropractic

Pregnancy takes it’s toll on women’s body.  The added weight of a baby places added stress on one’s spine and hips.  Therefore, many women start feeling back pain, leg pain, fatigue, and many other symptoms that they never had before their pregnancy.  Chiropractic can give mothers to be tremendous relief by freeing their nervous system from interference and taking stress off of their spine and hips.

Chiropractic and Athletes

Chiropractors have been treating athletes for many years.  Many professional sports teams have chiropractors on staff.  The Olympics employs chiropractors as part of their medical teams to assist the athletes.  Many elite and professional athletes have said that chiropractic helped them achieve peak performance.  Some of these athletes include bicyclist Lance Armstrong, boxer Evander Holyfield, Olympic decathlete Dan O’Brien, NFL’s Emmit Smith, NBA’s Gerald Wilkins, Arnold Schwartzenegger, Wade Boggs, Barry Bonds, and golfer Tiger Woods to name a few.

Chiropractic and Seniors

We see many senior citizens in our office even into their 90’s.  Seniors have stated that chiropractic helps them live with more energy and far less pain.  People under Chiropractic care are less likely to use prescription drugs and are more likely to exercise regularly.  Seniors under Chiropractic care state better overall health, less chronic pain, shorter hospital visits, and far greater mobility then their peers not under care.

Kids and Chiropractic

Many of our problems as adults started when we very young children. Children fall while learning to walk, fall at the playground and off bicycles, bump their heads, and get into numerous injuries in sports. These early subluxations build up in the body over their lifetime. This is why it is so important to get your children checked for subluxations.

Pediatric patient, Dylan

Many people are surprised to find out that we adjust children. Dr. Michelle is very proficient at detecting and correcting subluxations in children. She adjusts many of the children in her family on a regular basis. We see children in our office everyday and we have a complete library of chiropractic information dedicated to children. Many parents in our office have noticed positive changes in their child’s physical health and behavior through chiropractic care.  We realize that many of you have questions about adjusting children, so I would like to take this opportunity to explain and address some of your concerns.

We all know how stressful the birth process is not only for the mother, but also for the infant. The newborn’s neck is twisted and pulled in an effort to emerge from the birth canal. Many infants begin their lives with a subluxation from this ordeal. We all want our newborns to begin their lives with perfect health. However, we often forget about subluxations. Infants should be taken to their Chiropractor as soon as possible after birth. The Chiropractor can check for any possible subluxations and correct them using adjustments. An adjustment for a child is very different from that of an adult. The amount of thrust used to adjust a child is typically between 6 to 8 ounces. Also, the audible sound that many times accompanies the adult adjustment may not be heard. The technique is so gentle that many babies do not even know they have been adjusted. By clearing the infant of possible subluxations, he or she can begin life with an optimal spinal and nervous system that can benefit them throughout life.

Babies love chiropractic too.

Birth is just the beginning of growth for our children. As babies grow and become more active, their spines change from the single curve to the quad-curve form of adults. This happens as a child learns to lift their head, crawl and walk. Babies are constantly moving, falling down, running into things and exploring their new world. Each of these things helps shape their spines and bodies. Their spines are growing faster now than at any other time of their life. It is extremely important to make certain that their spines are developing as they should. Subluxations can cause abnormal posture, which applies tension on vertebrae, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. This increased tension interferes with blood flow to internal organs. Lack of oxygen in cells, tissues, and organs causes dysfunction, lowered immune resistance, and disease. One or more parts of the body may begin to fail, as well as health in general. Subluxations can also foster the onset of sickness and disease as the body weakens. Having subluxations corrected can help with many childhood ailments such as:

  • ear infections
  • ADD/hyperactivity
  • Colic
  • bed-wetting
  • asthma
  • respiratory distress
  • anxiety
  • fevers
  • allergies

As babies grow into children, they become even more active and experience even more chances for subluxations. During this time it is also extremely important to have your children checked for scoliosis. Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine. If scoliosis is caught early enough, it can be corrected without surgery or braces. No matter how old your children are, it is imperative that you talk with your chiropractor to set up a spinal check for your children. Having a healthy spine is critical to having a healthy life.  If spinal misalignments remain uncorrected, a lifetime of abnormal development of the nervous system could result.  Remember, as the twig is bent, so grows the tree.

Dr. Michelle Asks some important questions of interest to Tucson residents - Chiropractor Tucson Dr. Michelle Asks...

Can those with osteoporosis get chiropractic care?
Of course. When developing a care plan, we consider the unique circumstances of each patient. There are many ways we can adjust the spine. The chiropractic method we select will be best suited to your age, size and unique situation.
Why does chiropractic work?
Chiropractic works because your nervous system, consisting of your brain, spinal cord and all the nerves of your body, controls and regulates every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body. A chiropractor locates and reduces areas of nervous system compromise (usually along the spine) so your capacity to heal is restored. Chiropractic works by helping your body work as it was designed.
